Chudamani Sharma released on Rs 10 m bail

Choodamani SharmaKathmandu / Nov 28: Special Court on Tuesday released Chudamani Sharma, erstwhile member secretary of Tax Settlement Commission (TSC), on a 10 million rupees bail.

“Chudamani Sharma, who was present in the court today, has been released on a 10 million rupees bail following his affidavit and statement,” spokesperson of Special Court Nagendra Keshari Pokharel told Republica Online.

A full bench of Justices Dwarikaman Joshi, Ratna Bahadur Bagchand and Narayan Prasad Pokharel had demanded a bail amounting to Rs 10 million, according to Pokharel.

He was released on Tuesday evening after Nepal Investment Bank, Durbar Marg issued a bank guarantee in his name as per the bail demanded, informed Pokharel.

Other graft-case accused Lumbadhwaj Mahat and Umesh Prasad Dhakal have already been released after they submitted Rs 10 million each as bail.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had filed corruption cases against Mahat, Dhakal and Chudamani Sharma on July 16.
