300 children rescued

children-jajarkotKathmandu / Dec 23: As many as 300 children working in vulnerable conditions in restaurants, dance bars including entertainment sectors have been rehabilitated in their families and society.

Biswash Nepal, an NGO helped rehabilitate those children aged 12 to 15 with support from the police administration.

Sharing the annual report of the organization today, Organization’s Chair Tara Bhandar said that during their monitoring 2,703 people including 1,783 teen girls were found working in restaurants, dance bars and small hotels. The women and children working in such informal sector were not in the position to openly share their thoughts while 309 girls were vulnerable to trafficking.

The report mentions that nearly 60,000 women and adolescents are working as the labourers in the entertainment sector in the Kathmandu valley. RSS
