Left alliance agrees on 43 seats of NA; UML demands NA election on announced date

UML party officeKathmandu / Jan 17: The joint task force of CPN-UML and CPN (Maoist Center) has agreed on the 43 seats of the National Assembly (NA) allocation left alliance.

The meeting held at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, the meeting has agreed to decide on remaining seats on consensus with other parties within few days. According to CPN (MC) leader and one of the task force member Matrika Yadav , the task force has decided for 29 seats for CPN-UML whereas CPN(MC) will get 14 seats.

The alliance will hold the discussion with other parties for remaining seats of the NA, according to Yadav. The election of NA is scheduled for February 7.

UML demands NA election on announced date

Meanwhile, the CPN (UML) has drawn the attention of the government and Election Commission towards holding the National Assembly (NA) election on time.

A meeting of the party’s standing committee took place at the party headquarters, Dhumbarahi today demanded the government and EC guarantee the NA election on the scheduled date, according to party secretary Yogesh Bhattarai. The party is doubtful that delay in appointing the heads and provisional capitals of provinces could affect the NA election schedule.

The meeting insisted on the need of announcing chiefs and temporary capitals of provinces instantly.

Besides, the meeting demanded that the caretaker government should stop creating new employment quota, transferring and promoting employees and spending the State coffer.

It meeting also instructed the subordinate committees to be more careful while nominating names of candidates for the NA election.
