ILO seems positive to support ‘Prime Minister Employment Program’

ILO LogoKathmandu / Jun 5: The International Labour Organisation (ILO) seemed positive towards Nepal request to support the “Prime Minister Employment Program”.

Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Raj Bista, who is currently in Geneva of Switzerland in course of his participation in the 107th Session of International Labour Conference, met ILO Director-General Guy Ryder with a request to towards that end on Tuesday.

As stated by Joint-Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Ram Prasad Ghimire who is also in the Minister’s delegation to the ILO Conference, during the meeting with the ILO Director-General, Nepal received a positive response regarding its request ILO to help in creating jobs.

Ministry Secretary Mahesh Dahal and representative of Nepal’s Permanent Mission to UN, Switzerland, Deepak Dhital, were also present on the occasion. Nepal is the ILO member state.

The Government of Nepal in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year 2018/19 unveiled recently announced to implement the “Prime Minister Employment Program” with the objective of creating job opportunities within the country and gradually end the situation for Nepalis to go for abroad jobs. The government has allocated over Rs three billion for this programme and aims to provide jobs to 500,000 Nepalis in the next fiscal year.
