Police arrest Dr. KC before protesting in ‘prohibited zone’

Julma, June 30: Dr. Govinda KC, who had flown to Jumla to protest against the alterations with the Medical Education Ordinance Replacement Bill has been kept in custody by the police.

KC’s arrest precedes his protest in front of the District Administration Office, Jumla. In light of KC’s protest, the District Administration Office, Jumla had issued a public notice banning any kind of strike including hunger strike, agitation and demonstration within 200 meters of the DAO, the district police office and the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences (KIHS) today.

KC reached the Karnali Institute of Health Sciences in Jumla to stage his 15th fast-unto-death in protest against the alleged tampering of the medical education bill, and against the delay in beginning MBBS studies at KIHS.
