Govt to use three-pillar economic policy to prosper country: Labour Minister

Biratnagar, Aug 1 : Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista on Wednesday said the government would use the three-pillar economic policy–partnership among public, private and cooperatives–to prosper the country.
Saying the government was discussing ways to make cooperatives more managed for a large number of the people are associated with it, he called for cooperatives to have credibility and impartiality towards that end.
The Minister was inaugurating an interaction with the theme of ’employment creation through cooperatives’ organised here by the district saving and credit cooperative union. Stating that the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme brought by the government aims to provide job opportunities to approximately 500,000 people, he called for the maximum utilisation of opportunities to make the country self-reliant.
He pointed out the importance of cooperatives in collecting capital, while underscoring the need for becoming self-reliant on agriculture to create employment opportunities and reduce country’s trade loss.
On the occasion, Minister for Social Development in Province 1 Jiban Ghimire urged cooperatives to focus on production not only on saving and credit by adhering to the three pillars economic policy. (RSS)
