First NRNA World Experts Conference to be held in Kathmandu
Kathmandu / Oct 3: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has been making preparations to hold the first ever NRNA World Experts Conference in Kathmandu on October 12-14.
NRNA Coordinator Hem Raj Sharma said the decision to hold the conference was made, realising the need to utilise knowledge, skills and experience gained by Nepali diaspora for the prosperity of Nepal.
“The conference will be focused on identifying capable Non Resident Nepalis and to find out ways to utilise their knowledge and skills to make Prosperous Nepal,” he said.
Around 400 persons including foreigners who have been studying about Nepal will take part in the conference.
It has been learnt that Metro engineer of Delhi, expert related to science and technology of UNESCO and others experts from India, Italy, America, Canada and Australia among others will take part in the conference.
On the first day of the conference, discussions will be held on policy about science and technology of Nepal, condition of technical human resource, economic development based on knowledge, and the path the country will adopt for economic development. The conference will also take up issues like possibility of a new technology appropriate for Nepal and investment in this sector.
The organiser said the conference will also focus on the role of diaspora for the formulation of Nepal’s development policy.
On the second day, discussions will be held on agriculture, health, education, development of infrastructure and engineering, alternative energy, science and technology, risk minimization, environmental pollution, economic reforms and social security among others.
On the third day, it has been scheduled to make overview and conclusion of the conference and prepare a future plan. Experts will hold a meeting with the heads of various government agencies and experts on the same day.
“We have been receiving complaints that there are a large number of businessmen in the NRNA and less participation of academicians. This is a good opportunity for the Non-Resident Nepali academicians to demonstrate their skills and capacity,” said another coordinator and NRNA Vice-Chairman Kumar Panta.
