Three Nepali contractors elected to IFAWPCA board
Kathmandu / Nov 16: President of Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal (FCAN), Rabi Singh, has said Nepal was moving ahead on the journey of economic prosperity along with political stability. He said Nepal’s target now is economic prosperity.
The FCAN president said this while addressing the 44th convention of the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Associations (IFAWPCA) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He said the Government of Nepal is currently moving ahead with the concept of “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali” and the construction industry had an important role in achieving this mission. The political parties too fully support the idea that Nepal can achieve economic prosperity through infrastructure development, he added.
The FCAN president also shared on the occasion that the government was working to upgrade the country to a ‘medium income’ status country by 2030 by developing the physical infrastructures, adding that the government has prioritized the public private partnership concept for achieving its goal.
Meanwhile, Nepali contractors Ramesh Sharma has been elected the First Vice President Jaya Ram Lamichhane to the post of proposed General Secretary of IFAWPCA. Sharma and Lamichhane are both the former FCAN presidents and are its current advisors.
Similarly, Birendra Raj Pandey has been nominated the Board member of IFAWPCA. A delegation led by FCAN president Sing had gone to Malaysia last Monday to attend the convention.
The delegation is scheduled to visit Singapore and Indonesia besides Malaysia and observe the achievements made by these countries in the physical infrastructure development sector. The 46th convention of IFAWPCA is to be held in Nepal. RSS
