CIAA files anti-graft case against ex-governor Rawal and two other over polymer note scam

CIAAKathmandu / Dec 20: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) lodged a corruption case against three persons including Nepal Rastra Bank Ex-Governor Tilak Rawal at Special Court in Kathmandu on Thursday.

The anti-graft authority has accused the officials of financial misappropriation during printing of 50 million sets of Rs 10 polymer banknotes.

According to CIAA, the accused officials carried out under-the-table transactions with local agents in Australia and printed low quality notes.

Given that, the graft body has filed a corruption case demanding compensation of Rs 9.10 million each from erstwhile Governor Rawal and Former Head of Note Department Upendra Keshari Poudyal and local representative Himalaya Bahadur Pande.
