Adverse weather affects flights at TIA

Kathmandu / May 30: Flights to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport were affected due to adverse weather conditions today. International flights were affected since this afternoon due to bad weather, general manager of the TIA Raj Kumar Chettri said.

Some of the domestic and international flights were canceled while few were diverted to nearby airports, while many domestic flights suffered delay. Tibet Airlines canceled its flight while China Airlines plane was diverted to Kolkata, India. Sudden change in the weather led to a drop in visibility, thereby affecting flights at TIA.

Dense fog and clouds covered the northern part of the airport, though flight taking other routes were not affected, Chettri said. Meanwhile, the Weather Forecasting Division has predicted a change in the weather with heavy rainfall and winds in the eastern, central and western hilly regions of the country for the next three days. Kathmandu valley too had experience rainfall this afternoon, with 11 milliliters of rainfall recorded by the Division. RSS
