NTNC manages ambulance for wild animals

Chitwan / June12: An ambulance has been managed for rescuing the injured or sick wild animals right from their jungle habitat for the first time in Nepal.

The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) purchased the ambulance taking advantage of the customs rebate. NTNC stated that the ambulance has been brought for use by the Wildlife Hospital that is being operated in Sauraha.

NTNC Sauraha’s officiating chief Ram Kumar Aryal said the ambulance cost Rs 2.5 million. According to him, the ambulance will provide service in all the districts of the Tarai,including the Chitwan National Park.

We will use the ambulance for rescuing wild animals if they are injured or fall sick. The ambulance has oxygen and cage adjustable according to size of the wild animal,” he said.

This facility was not available in the country before this. Although the public zoo has an ambulance for the wild animals, it was not brought into use outside of Kathmandu Valley.

Wildlife conservationists believe that the opening of the wildlife hospital will provide much support in wildlife conservation efforts. RSS
