Trekking route to Dhaulagiri base camp repaired, widened

Myagdi / June 13: A trekking route to the base camp of Dhaulagiri mountain has been constructed. The seventh highest mountain of the world (8,167 metres) is located at Mudi of Dhaulagiri rural municipality.

Repair and maintenance of the trekking route from Naurabhir to Sallaghari has been carried out at a cost of Rs 5 million provided by the Gandaki state government’s Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment.

Chairperson of Dhaulagiri rural municipality, Thamsara Pun, said that 9.4 kilometres narrow route has been widened and stone steps constructed at difficult points.

Similarly, trekking route linking Malkabang from Jeltung of Bagar via Singhkus and Jurkus has been repaired from the same budget. Trekking route from Italy base camp to Swiss camp has been constructed from Rs 1.5 million allocated by the Tourism Ministry of the Federal government this year.

Chairperson of Users Committee, Hari Prasad Tilija, said that around 2.5 kilometres of trekking route has been repaired and widened. He said that tourists visiting Dhaulagiri base camp, round Dhaulagiri and climbing other mountains would be benefited after the construction of the trekking route. RSS
