Rhino found dead inside Chitwan National Park

Chitwan / July 7: A rhino has been found dead inside the Chitwan National Park (CNP).

The dead rhino was Approximately three-year-old rhino and was found dead near the Binaya River under Tamasapur area of the CNP during a ‘sweep operation’, said NCP chief conservation officer Bed Kumar Dhakal.

During the investigations, the rhino was found to have been attacked by a male rhino, and washed away to the area where it was found dead, he said.

With this, a total of 41 rhinos were found dead in the CNP in the current fiscal year of 2018/19 so far. The operation that started from June 30 aims to check poaching of wild animals and smuggling of forest products. In recent incident during the operation, four persons were arrested while chopping trees, said Dhakal. RSS
