Monsoon Havoc: Death toll reaches 30 in Nepal

Kathmandu / July 13: Death toll has reached 30 across the country due to landslides and floods caused by monsoon rains that began on Thursday, according to the updated data of Nepal Police on Saturday afternoon. At least 18 persons are missing and 12 injured in the disaster.

According to police, the flood and landslide killed five in Lalitpur, three each in Kathmandu, Khotang, and Kavrepalanchowk, two each in Bhojpur, Makawanpur, Dhading and Sindhuli, and One each in Okhaldhunga, Parsa, Ramechhap, Ilam, Jhapa, Sunsari, Bara, and Chitwan.

Similarly, 12 persons were injured in the disaster including four in Makawanpur, two in Kavrepalanchowk, and one each in Khotang, Ramechhap, Dhading, Dolakha, Sunsari and Chitwan, informed police.

Likewise, a total of 18 persons are missing including four from Sindhuli, three from Bhojpur, and one each from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Panchthar, Jhapa, Udaypur, Morang, Sunsari, Parsa, Mahottari, Rautahat, Dhading.

Meanwhile, police headquarters has deployed Provincial Police Chiefs of the affected provinces, Police Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), and other police personnel in the affected areas. As many as 27,380 police personnel have been mobilized in disaster-affected areas including 8,856 police personnel in Kathmandu valley, 6,305 in Province 1, 5,702 in Province 2, 3405 in Province 3, and 3,112 in Province 6.

Human resources and equipment from police offices have been mobilised for search and rescue operation as well as for clearing of the obstacles in various locations and highways, shared the police headquarters.
