Finmin Khatiwada vows to promote social security in the country

Kathmandu / July 22: Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada on Monday said that Guthis (trusts) can contribute to promoting social security schemes launched by the government.

Speaking at a conference titled “On the path to Universal Social Protection in Nepal” in the capital, Minister Khatiwada said that the tradition of loving and respecting juniors has greatly contributed to the social protection.

Khatiwada said that social protection has also contributed to the disaster management. Stating that the constitution has enshrined social protection as a fundamental right of the people, the minister vowed to promote social security schemes.

Khatiwada said that the government has made special social security arrangements to people various walks of life including poor, backward communities, elderly, differently able and widow.
