KMC completes design of new overhead bridges

Kathmandu / July 29: The Kathmandu metropolis has completed the design of overhead bridges to be constructed at multiple new locations including Chabahil, Maitighar and Jayabageshwori inside the metropolis. As the Kathmandu Metropolitan City Office said, areas having relatively more pressure of traffic flow have been chosen for the implementation of a new project.

According to KMC Spokesperson Ishworman Dangol, design works have been completed and the implementation phase will start soon through the bidding agreement. The metropolis last fiscal year allocated the budget for the construction of pedestrian bridges over the above-mentioned areas.

The project was delayed as road widening works were going on there. With a continuous rise in traffic flow in the central capital, the demand for overhead bridges is growing. Pedestrians are facing problems to cross the busiest roads in the absence of another alternative means for them. It has stoked the issue of traffic jams as well. RSS
