Government is determined to protect public land: DPM Pokharel

Kathmandu / August 3: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwar Pokharel has expressed the government’s unswerving commitment to protect the public land.

“All sides irrespective of ruling and opposition parties should work in unison to preserve the encroached public land”, he said while inaugurating the Lakhepokhari Democratic Park at Kathmandu Metropolis-6, Bouddha Ramnagar today. He urged all sides to unite for preserving the public properties and bringing to book those opting to intrude public land.

It should be the first and foremost priority of the local governments to protect the public land, he noted.

Also speaking on the occasion, lawmaker Krishna Rai said the area around the park will offer space for children and the elderly for recreational activities.

According to Park Development Committee Chair Jyoti Lama, the park was constructed at the cost of Rs 5 million funded through the Kathmandu Metropolis. “It stretches around 15 ropani lands”, he informed. DPM Pokharel planted saplings on the occasion. A total of 500 saplings was planted in and around the park. RSS
