Govt to set up libraries at all local levels: Minister Pokharel

Kathmandu / Sept. 1: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel said on Sunday that the government is making preparations to set up well-equipped libraries at all local bodies.

Speaking at a program organized to mark 12th Library Day in the capital, Minister Pokharel said that his ministry has already prepared a master plan to this effect.

“The cabinet will endorse the master plan soon,” he said. The government is also mulling over introducing a separate policy to govern the libraries across the country, the minister said.

Pokharel vowed to establish libraries at all local levels with the view to promoting reading culture in Nepal. The minister also said that a government task-force is currently working to formulate a new book policy.
