Sundar Yatayat launches electric buses in Capital

Kathmandu / Sept 9: Sundar Yatayat, a private transportation company, has launched two electric buses in the capital.

The company has been allowed to run the electric buses along the ring road of Kathmandu.

Amid a function, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Ishwor Pokharel flagged off the buses at the Nepal Police Club at the Exhibition Road, Kathmandu.

Bhes Bahadur Thapa, the president of Sundar Transportation, said that they are mulling to operate electric buses along various routes inside Kathmandu Valley. “The bus fare is twenty percent less than other public bus fares,” Thapa added.

The electric buses were imported from China in line with the government’s vision of controlling air pollution in the Valley.

Sundar Yatayat plans to add eleven more electric buses. President Thapa also said that they have already agreed to operate electric buses in Province 1 and 5. While the two buses have already been brought to Kathmandu and two more will be brought soon, Thapa said.
