House panel to hold discussion with stakeholders over under-construction Sisdol landfill site

Kathmandu / Sept 12: Parliamentary Committee on Development and Technology has said that it will hold a comprehensive discussion with the concerned stakeholders to resolve various demands raised by local people around Sisdol landfill site at Bancharedanda in Nuwakot, which is under-construction.

Responding the ultimatum by locals of Sisdol to address their demands by September 17, the committee has called Ministry for Urban Development, Ministry for Federal Issues and Local Development, Finance Ministry, Investment Board, Kathmandu Metropolis, provincial and federal lawmakers representing the constituency, and local representatives for a discussion.

At the committee meeting on Thursday, the members- namely Jip Chhiring Lama, Ganesh Kumar Pahadi, Bina Kumari Shrestha, Sanjaya Kumar Gautam, and Mahendra Ray Yadav urged the concerned authority not to politicize the issue. They also demanded to direct the respective authorities to provide compensation to affected people immediately.

The committee has also decided to make a field visit along Balkhu-Dakshinkali road section on September 18.
