No pact Oli and Dahal regarding govt’s leadership: Acting PM Pokharel

Kathmandu / Oct 25: Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwar Pokharel has said no agreement has been reached between the two chairmen of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) regarding leading the government turn by turn.

Talking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport this morning, he made it clear that no such agreement was made between the two chairmen at the time of party unification.

The acting prime minister added that the two chairmen have been meeting daily and holding discussions on party matters.

Stating it was normal to have discussions and debates within the party on various issues as two parties came from different backgrounds prior to their unification, this issue should not be construed as a dispute.

Amid media reports on the heightened disputes between the two chairs of the party, Pokharel said the reports were groundless.

He was of the view that both chairs could own up the party’s responsibility as per the need of time.

The defence minister made it clear that there was no possibility of sitting for talks with the CPN Biplav-led Group over the demands put forth by the party. He added that anyone wishing to join the mainstream of politics is always welcomed.

On a different note, he said that the party has yet not discussed the probable candidate for the post of speaker. RSS
