Hospital gets ventilator but lacks human resource

Baglung / Apr. 04: The Dhaulagiri Hospital in Baglung got a ventilator sent by State Health Directorate on Thursday evening. Last week, the Hospital had denied receiving the ventilator, saying it had not all accessories for full functioning.

It is the second ventilator sent by the Directorate. However, Dr. Pradip Shrestha lamented, “We got the ventilator to support those suffering respiratory difficulty. But, how can we support those with heart and kidney problems as there is no ICU?”

Currently, two patients with coronavirus positive have been receiving treatment here. In case they develop critical symptoms, ICU facility is must, which is not here, Dr. Shrestha added.

Efforts are on to set up an ICU at the Hospital. “I have heard the central government has allocated Rs 10 million for it. However, it has not been forwarded from State government, “Hospital Management Committee chair KB Rana said, adding, “We not only install ventilator but also run ICU if the government provides assistance. But, here is dearth of human resource.”

For lack of human resources, the Hospital has no option but to send the patients in need of critical care to Pokhara city.

Swab collected from four persons

Meanwhile, the Hospital has collected swabs from four persons from the family of the woman who was detected positive to COVID-19 recently. They are from Gaidakot of Baglung municipality-3. A technical team reached her home on Friday, took the swab and sent to the State Public Health Laboratory, Pokhara, for test, according to doctor today.RSS
