COVID-19 update: 2,856 new cases, 3,336 recoveries, five deaths in 24 Hours

Kathmandu / Oct. 25: With 2,856 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection confirmed on Sunday, the national COVID-19 caseload has reached 158,089.

“In 12,311 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 2,856 persons, 1,067 females and 1,789 males were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its update.

Currently, there are 45,572 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 32,593 are in home isolation. Some 277 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU while 66 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility. A total of 3,064 persons are currently placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 3,336 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 111,670 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate stands at 70.6 per cent.

As many as five people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and with this, the national COVID-19 related death tally has reached 847.

Kathmandu valley records 1,535 new cases

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Sunday confirmed 1,535 new cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley.

In 12,311 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done across the nation in the last 24 hours, as many as 1,535 persons, 629 females and 906 males, were found with the novel coronavirus infection in the Valley, informed the MoHP in its update.

Of the 1, 849 infections recorded by Bagmati State in the last 24 hours, 1,535 were found in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts.

Currently, there are 19,826 active cases of COVID-19 in Kathmandu. The capital city’s COVID-19 tally stands at 56,302 including 36,283 cases of recoveries and 193 fatalities.

Likewise, Bhaktapur has recorded 5,313 infections until now of which, 3,763 patients have already recovered while 56 succumbed to the infection. There are 1,494 active cases in Bhaktapur.

Lalitpur district has recorded 7,883 cases of novel coronavirus infection until now including 5,399 recoveries and 54 deaths. Currently, there are 2,430 active cases in Lalitpur.
