Covid-19 update: 2,725 PCR tests, 570 new infections, 3,168 cases of recoveries

Kathmandu / Oct. 27: With 570 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection confirmed on Tuesday, the national COVID-19 caseload has reached 160,400.

“In 2,725 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 570 persons, 211 females and 359 males were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its update.

Currently, there are 40, 681 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 32,464 are in home isolation. Some 281 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU while 71 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility. A total of 2,932 persons are currently placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 3,168 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 118,843 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate stands at 74.1 per cent.

As many as 14 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and with this, the national COVID-19 related death tally has reached 876.

Kathmandu valley reports 252 new cases

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Tuesday confirmed 252 new cases of COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley.

In 2,725 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done across the nation in the last 24 hours, as many as 252 persons, 97 females and 155 males, were found with the novel coronavirus infection in the Valley, informed the MoHP in its update.

Of the 273 infections recorded by Bagmati State in the last 24 hours, 252 were found in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts.

Currently, there are 16,958 active cases of COVID-19 in Kathmandu. The capital city’s COVID-19 tally stands at 57,200 including 40,042 cases of recoveries and 200 fatalities.

Likewise, Bhaktapur has recorded 5,393 infections until now of which, 4,141 patients have already recovered while 58 succumbed to the infection. There are 1,194 active cases in Bhaktapur.

Lalitpur district has recorded 8,052 cases of novel coronavirus infection until now including 5,562 recoveries and 56 deaths. Currently, there are 2,434 active cases in Lalitpur.
