171 new cases of COVID-19 and 227 recoveries in 24 hours
Kathmandu / Feb. 4: With 171 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Thursday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 271,602.
“In 3,878 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 171 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily update.
Of the 171 new cases, 78 were reported in the Kathmandu Valley.
Currently, there are 2,277 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 770 are receiving treatment in various institutional isolation and the remaining are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 61 are admitted to the ICU while 14 are receiving treatment with the ventilator facility.
A total of 92 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation.
Meanwhile, 227 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 267,292 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate is at 98.4 per cent.
Moreover, two persons succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 2,033.
