COVID-19 update: 73 new cases, 64 recoveries and three fatalities in 24 hours

Kathmandu / Mar. 1: The Ministry of Health and Population on Monday confirmed 73 new cases of COVID-19, taking the nation’s novel coronavirus tally to 274,216.

“In 3,049 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 73 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Of the 73 new infections, 27 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley including one in Bhaktapur, six in Lalitpur and 20 in Kathmandu.

Currently, there are 968 active cases of COVID-19. A total of 61 people, mostly those who had returned from abroad are placed in quarantine across the nation.

Of the active patients, 32 are admitted to the ICU and eight are receiving treatment with ventilator facility.

Nepal has now recorded 270,471 cases of recovery and the recovery rate is at 98.6 percent.

Moreover, three fatality related to COVID-19 was confirmed in Nepal in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 death toll is 2,777.
