KMC to build 100-bed special hospital

Kathmandu / June 17: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is constructing a 100- bed Kathmandu Metropolis Special Hospital with specialised services and modern facilities.

Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya announced this while unveiling the KMC’s Policies and Programs for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2021/22 here today. The hospital will have specialised services for the treatment of senior citizens.

Mayor Shakya tabled the Policies and Programs at the first meeting of the Ninth Municipal Assembly today.

KMC has prioritised the programs directed at COVID-19 prevention and control in its Policies and Programs for the FY 2021/22. It is stated that the metropolis will provide support related to response, treatment and humanitarian aid to the KMC denizens affected by COVID-19.

The Policies and Programs also mention that a call centre will be operated for continuously monitoring the health condition of COVID-19 patients and for providing consultation and treatment, psycho-social counseling will be provided, telemedicine service will be operated, COVID tests will be conducted, ambulance service will be run, isolation service, COVID Special Hospital service and oxygen support and other services will be provided free of charge.

Likewise, it is stated that the City Health Clinics run at the ward offices will be upgraded to ensure basic health services to the residents of KMC. Arrangements will be made for providing free health checkup by specialised doctors.

“The ambulance service will be made cost-free, smooth and accessible by studying the effectiveness of the service provided by Nepal Ambulance Service,” the Policies and Programs reads. KMC has also adopted the policy of providing 50 per cent subsidy on the insurance policy of the KMC citizens.

It is stated that the KMC shall list, classify and issue certificates to the hotels, restaurants, eateries, the production sites of online food delivery outlets to ensure the quality of the services provided by these service providers through a comprehensive evaluation of the quality, process and method of food production, the cleanliness of the human resources involved as well as the place where the customers consume the food and snacks.
