Nima Lama and Sumit Mainali of Naulin Sports Villa win 1st CoAS National Lawn Tennis Tournament

Kathmandu / Dec. 21: Nima Lama and Sumit Mainali of Naulin Sports Villa have won the title of 1st Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) National Lawn Tennis Tournament 2021 on plus 35 years category.

The duo won the match defeating Sudarshan Bista and Raju Chhetri of Mandikatar Tennis Club in a match held at the tennis ground of Army Headquarter on Tuesday.

Pradip Khadka of Pokhara won the title of Men’s Single defeating Hritik Rana of Butwal. Saloni Tamang became winner under Women’s Single, while Sarvani Shrestha and Saloni Shrestha became winner on Women’s doubles category. Jitendra Pariyar and Pranab Khanal became victorious under Men’s doubles category, while Jitendra Pariyar became first under Men’s Single plus 35 category. Chandra Shahi became winner under Veteran’s Single plus 45 years category, while Krishna Raj Ghale and Mahesh Shrestha became the winner under the double’s category.

Bimal Kumar Gurung became victorious on plus 35 Veterans category, while Krishna Raj Ghale and Subarna Dhakka became victorious under double’s category. Bidur Bista became the winner under plus 65 Veteran’s Category, while Uttam Bogati and Chandra Bahadur Thapa became winners under Inter Governmental Category.

Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma, General Secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee Nilendra Raj Shreshta, Inspector General of Nepal Police Shailendra Thapa, Chairperson of Nepal Tennis Association Jyoti Rana and other high ranking Army Officials presented the cash prize, medals and certificates to the winning players.

The tournament was organized with the objective of promoting the game and developing talents.

185 players of 15 clubs participated in the tournament. The participating teams are Armed Police Force, Flash Sports Club Lazimpat, Kaski District Tennis Association, Kathmandu District Tennis Association, Greenland Tennis Club, Team Tennis Nepal, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Naulin Sports Villa, Bhadgaun Sports, Mandikatar Tennis Club, Yak and Yeti Club, Rupandehi Lawn Tennis Association, Satdobato Tennis Club and St. Xavier’s Club.
