Agreement to hold Local Level Elections on time

Kathmandu / Jan 18: A meeting of the five-party coordination committee formed to run the government has agreed that the upcoming local elections should be held in April as provided in the constitution.

The agreement was reached at a meeting chaired by senior Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel in the presence of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday morning, said Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, spokesperson of the government and Minister for Communications and Information Technology.

He said that today’s meeting also discussed how to ensure the victory of the coalition in the upcoming National Assembly election on January 26.

Karki also informed that additional consultations are being held with the Election Commission and other stakeholders to hold the local elections on time.
