Nepal records 5,598 cases on RT-PCR, 3,791 in Valley alone

Kathmandu / Jan 23: Nepal recorded 6,462 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday along with 1,416 recoveries and four deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

As many as 17,437 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 5,598 PCR and 864 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 77,295 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 75,376 are in self-isolation, 1,664 in institutional isolation, 215 in ICUs, and 40 on ventilators. Similarly, 149 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,655 people have died of the viral infection across the country.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 3,791 cases of the virus on Sunday. Of them, 2,868  were recorded in Kathmandu, 321 in Bhaktapur, and 602 in Lalitpur districts.
