6,827 new cases including 4,807 on RT-PCR, 5,432 recoveries and 10 deaths

Kathmandu / Jan 28: Nepal recorded 6,827 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday along with 5,432 recoveries and 10 deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

As many as 19,869 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 4,807 PCR and 2,020 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 90,242 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 88,084 are in self-isolation, 1,857 in institutional isolation, 256 in ICUs, and 45 on ventilators. Similarly, 139 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,697 people have died of the viral infection across the country.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 2,940 cases of the virus on Friday. Of them, 2,153 were recorded in Kathmandu, 268 in Bhaktapur, and 519 in Lalitpur districts.
