Nepal sees arrival of 16,975 tourists in January

Kathmandu / Feb 26: As many as 16,975 international tourists from 150 countries visited Nepal in January, according to the Department of Immigration. The number of tourists arriving in the country has shown signs of recovery for the tourism sector, which was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

According to the Department of Immigration, among the tourists, who arrived in the countries in January, 10,810 are males, 6,157 are females and the gender of eight tourists have not been revealed.

As many as 1,293 tourists arrive in Nepal from Australia in January. Similarly, 1,236 international tourists were from Bangladesh, 329 from China, 365 from Germany, 3,916 from India, 1,824 from the UK, and 3,257 from the US. 

Likewise, 17,984 international tourists left the country in January. With this, as many as 34,949 international tourists flocked to Nepal during the same month. 

Furthermore, as many as 150,962 tourists from 181 countries visited Nepal in 2021.
