WHO Director General arrives in Nepal
Kathmandu / April 21: Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus arrived in Nepal on Thursday afternoon.
Dr Tedros was welcomed by officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and WHO at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
Tedros came to Nepal at the invitation of Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada. Dr Tedros is accompanied by WHO Regional Director of South East Asia Regional Office, Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh and other WHO officials during his three-day visit. He is scheduled to return home on April 23.
Dr Tedros will call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Chairperson of National Assembly Ganesh Prashad Timilsina. The visiting WHO Director General will also meet Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Narayan Khadka, and Minister for Health and Population, Birodh Khatiwada.
