Fill out online form to get registered as voter: EC

Kathmandu / July 12: Nepali citizens who have yet to get registered as voters can now get registered on the voters’ list by filling the form through the online system.

Election Commission, Nepal, informed on Tuesday that the collection of the voters’ names with photos has been simplified and that the eligible Nepali citizens can from Thursday onwards fill out the online form for getting registered as voters.

The EC has developed a web-based voter list pre-registration system to make it easy for eligible citizens for getting registered as voters and this system will be brought into practice in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur districts as a pilot operation, according to EC spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel.

People can visit the EC website, www.election.gov.np, and fill out the online form and then go to the district election office with the print copy of the submitted form with symbol number and other related documents to get a photo and fingerprint taken. Once the photo and fingerprint are taken at the district election offices, the process for getting registered as a voter gets completed.

EC has urged all to utilise the online system and get registered as voters and enjoy one’s voting rights.
