Finance Minister Sharma sworn in

Kathmandu / July 31: Newly appointed Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has taken the oath of office and secrecy before President Bidya Devi Bhandari today.

President Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Finance Minister Sharma at the Office of the President amidst a special ceremony Sunday evening.

Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota among others were presented during the oath-taking ceremony.

Earlier today, President Bhandari appointed Sharm to the post of Finance Minister as per the recommendation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Newly appointed Minister Sharma had resigned from the post after allegations he allowed the involvement of an unauthorized person in changing tax rates during the annual budget formation.

A parliamentary committee that investigated the case dismissed the allegation as baseless and declared him innocent.
