Last rites of leader Giri performed at Pashupati

Kathmandu / Aug. 21: Final rites of the Nepali Congress leader Pradeep Giri have been performed today at the Aryaghat in Pashupati.

Prime Minister and NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli, among leaders of other parties, reached Pashupati to pay tribute to leader Giri.

Earlier, leader Giri’s body was kept at NC central office in Sanepa for the last respects where CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, among leaders of the other parties, reached to pay their respects to leader Giri.

Santosh Giri, son of late Giri, put the funeral fire on the pyre for cremation.

Leader Giri was cremated with state hounour. Hundreds of people gathered at Pashupati to pay tribute to leader Giri during the cremation.

Known for his socialist thoughts and lifestyle, Giri, 75, breathed his last yesterday evening while under treatment at Mediciti Hospital.
