SC orders Mayor Shah to furnish written clarification within seven days

Kathmandu / Aug. 29: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) to furnish written clarification within seven days on a contempt of court case filed against him.

A single bench of Justice Hari Krishna Karki issued the order in response to a writ petition filed earlier by Advocate Deepakraj Joshi.

Hinting at the SC’s interim order not to demolish the structure of Norvic Hospital, Balen had earlier written on social media, “Now, the Supreme Court should be given the job of approving structure designs.”

Joshi filed a petition at the apex court arguing that Mayor Shah’s reaction was contempt of the court.
