Paddy plantation completed in 94.2 percent of rice fields

Kathmandu / Sept. 5: Paddy plantation has been completed in 94.2 percent of the paddy fields in the rainy season this year, less than last year’s 97.89 percent of the paddy production area.

According to the Department of Agriculture, farmers planted rice in 1.417 million hectares out of the total paddy production area of 1.504 million hectares. Of the 77 districts, 24 have witnessed 100 percent paddy plantation.

Farmers of Solukhumbu, Okhaldhunga, Dhading, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Myagdi, Syangja, Baglung and Nawalpur districts have planted in the all the land plots allocated for paddy. Similarly, Bardiya, Jumla, Kalikot, Dolpa, Humla, Rukum, Rukum West, Mugu and Jajarkot too have achieved 100 percent paddy plantation.

Four districts from Sudurpashchim—Darchula, Bajhang, Bajura and Kanchanpur– are also reported to have paddy plantations in the total rice production areas. Kanchanpur has the largest plantation in the land area of 48,496 hectares.
