Home Ministry to ease distribution of passport, national ID card

Kathmandu / Dec 31: The Home Ministry has taken initiatives to ease the distribution of passport and national identity cards following the mounting complaints of service seekers.

The spokesperson at Home Ministry, Phanindra Mani Pokhrel, informed that efforts were initiated to address the complaints of compulsion to stay in line for hours and hassles in filling forms. Suggestions would be sought from a team of information technology experts on it, Pokhrel added.

Future initiatives would be based on the suggestions of the experts, according to him.

Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane had vowed to ease the distribution of passports and National ID cards immediately after assuming office.

Although the electronic form is filled for a passport, the service seekers need to stand in line for hours to complete the process. (RSS)
