Motorists prohibited driving vehicles over 50 km/hour speed in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu / Feb 23: Motorists driving their vehicles on the major road segments of the Kathmandu Valley cannot drive their vehicles at a speed exceeding 50 km per hour.

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office (KVTPO) recently implemented the rule into effect at major road segments in the Valley. According to the KVTPO, the maximum speed limit has been fixed at 50 km per hour along the Kalanki-Koteshwor and Koteshwor-Bhaktapur segments. The limit has been set at 20 km per hour for vehicles operating on the service tracks of these roads.

The KVTPO says it has capped the vehicle speed, aiming to control road accidents caused by over speeding.

Anyone who is found breaching the rule will be slapped with a cash penalty.
