Govt focused on refining media policy, law: Minister Sharma

Kathmandu / Mar. 3: Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, has said that the government is focused on refining policies and laws both on the media and the information technology.

Speaking at a meeting with the central office bearers of the Press Center Nepal at the Ministry, Minister Sharma viewed that outdated laws were creating hurdles to bring in improvement in both the communication and the information technology sectors.

She observed that laws dating back to Panchayat system had to be changed in line with the political change and federal republican structure in the country.

Minister Sharma urged the journalists to make publicity of the good works of the government and stay as watchdog to alert the government on issues that need correction.

She remarked that the press should express the voice of the people.
