A science teacher in Panna Devi School turns Vice-President after a long political journey

Bhismaraj Ojha / Kathmandu, March 17 : From the voting taken place on Friday, Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) was elected to the post of the Vice-President, the third person to get elected to the esteemed post after the country was declared the republic.

Born to late Prasad Raya Yadav and Sihawa Devi Yadav in 2017 BS in Kachorwa-8 in Bara district, the newly-elected Vice-President also served as the minister for forest in the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led cabinet in 2078 BS.

Yadav, who was a teacher for 23 years, gained a political height after the Mades Movement. He had joined politics from Nepal Sadbhawana Party.

In the general election happened on November 20, 2022, Yadav was elected the House of Representatives (HoR) member from Bara constituency no.-2.

As a teacher, Yadav taught mathematics and science in Panna Devi Kanya Secondary School at Kalaiya, Bara.

The Vice-President elect earned his B.SC from Sitamadhi College in India and B.Ed from Thakurram Multiple Campus, Birgunj.

He joined the Sadbhawana Party in 2047 BS with his conviction that the party had been working for the cause of Tarai-Madhes.

In course of his political journey, he was affiliated to Madhesi People’s Rights Forum in 2059 BS and was elected as the Constituent Assembly (CA) member in 2064 BS. Also, he was elected the party’s general secretary in 2065 BS.

During his recent political portfolio, he was also the parliamentary party leader of Janata Samajwadi Party.

As a representative of the government and his party, the Vice-President elect has visited the United States of America, Poland, the UK, Belgium, UAE and other countries. RSS
