EC to hold by-elections in Tanahun and Bara on April 23

Kathmandu / March 20: The Election Commission is preparing to hold the by-elections in Tanahun constituency-1 and Bara-2 on April 23.

A meeting of the Election Commission on Monday fixed the date of the by-election.

The posts of lawmakers from those two constituencies have become vacant after Ram Chandra Paudal was elected as the president and Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav was elected the new vice president.

Paudel was earlier elected as a member of parliament from Tanahun-1 and Yadav from Bara 2 during the recently held general elections on November 20.

The by-election in Chitwan-2 will also be held on April 23. The post of an MP from Chitwan-2 is currently lying vacant after the Supreme Court ruled that Rabi Lamichhane, who was elected from the same constituency, was ineligible to become a member of parliament because of his citizenship issue.
