Production based Grant to farmers: Finance Minister Mahat

Kathmandu / June 15: Minister of Finance Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat said that grant to farmer will be provided on the basis of their production.

In an interaction with a team of farmers, he said that in the past farmers were not getting grant based on their production capacity.

Finance Minister Mahat claimed that government aim of taxing vegetable is to increase and protect local production adding that the tax provision only increase the price of imports.

Aim to tax vegetable is to orient nation towards self-reliance, increasing domestic production will help rise the employment, minister Mahat viwed.

He said that grant based on production will end misuse of huge amount of grant which were being distributed showing fake document irrespective of production.

The minister informed that the government will give priority of grant to the farmers who adopt new technology.
