KMC Mayor Shah warns action against anyone disrupting school activities

Kathmandu / June 17: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has directed all community schools within the metropolitan area to resume their operations on Sunday.

Issuing a directive through the official Facebook page on Saturday, Mayor Shah said that the attention of the Metropolitan Corporation has been drawn over reports that schools would remain closed across the country on Sunday. He also warned that teachers and staff who will be absent from school on Sunday will face action.

Mayor Shah has warned that the School Management Committee will be dissolved if they obstruct the teaching-learning process, and anyone involved in obstructing the teaching and learning activities will face criminal proceedings.

The directives of Mayor Balen come in the wake of Nepal Public School Employees’ Council (NPSEC) announcing the indefinite closure of community schools from Sunday. The NPSEC in a press statement on Friday directed its subordinate working committees across the country to stage the protest programs vigorously. The NPSEC has announced the strike with the aim to exert pressure on the government bodies concerned to meet their demands.
