Social Security Fund distributes Rs 5 billion to its contributors

Kathmandu / June 24: The Social Security Fund (SSF) has distributed nearly Rs 5 billion in claims to contributors under the Social Security Scheme. So far, the SSF has successfully distributed Rs 4.79 billion to contributors through a range of security schemes.

The SSF has been operating multiple schemes, including medical, health, maternity, accident and disability, dependent family, and old age security schemes. A total of 84,673 contributors have availed benefits from the Fund across these diverse schemes.

Under the medical, health, and maternity scheme, a total of Rs 554.4 million has been distributed. For the accident and disability security scheme, a sum of Rs 174.9 million has been paid, and under the dependent family security scheme, Rs 796.7 million has been distributed. Additionally, the old age security scheme has seen disbursements amounting to Rs 4.9 billion. These figures represent the payments made by the fund.

The SSF has collected a total of Rs 35.10 billion. Workers from both the formal sector and foreign sectors have been enrolling in the fund and contributing to it. The process of including informal and self-employed workers in the social security scheme is currently in the final stage.

Till now, 17,964 employers and 592,924 workers have been registered in the fund. The government announced the Social Security Scheme on November 27,2018.
