EC declines to recognize Resham Chaudhary as NUP chairman

Kathmandu / March 7: The Election Commission (EC) has declined to recognize Resham Chaudhary as the Chairman of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP). Chaudhary was elected as the chairman during the recently concluded convention of the NUP.

Chaudhary had applied to the EC to validate his appointment as chairman. However, EC Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudyal stated that Chaudhary’s application was rejected as it did not comply with the Political Parties Act.

“He submitted an application to update the party’s details recorded at the EC. The EC neither agreed to nor accepted it as per the provisions of the Political Parties Act. The previous status quo has been maintained,” said Paudyal.
