Launch blood donation drive: Minister Sharma

Kathmandu / March 9: Minister for Communications and Information Communications, Rekha Sharma, has said blood donation could be launched as a campaign.

Inaugurating the 2nd International Conference on Blood Donation here today, Minister Sharma viewed both the government and non-government sectors could launch the blood donation drive. The event is organized by the Blood Donors Association Nepal. The time has come to increase the number of blood donors.

Better awareness is imperative in donating blood, she said, pledging awareness materials on blood donation in the public welfare advertisement.

It could be incorporated also into other public notices and messages, according to her.

The Minister also informed that she would extend support via the health ministry to manage the necessary budget to avoid double fees for those in need of blood while the fee is already paid for processing.

She appreciated the role played by social organizations such as the Red Cross and Blood Donors Association for the management of blood in Nepal. Blood management can be taken as part of disaster management, Minister Sharma suggested. RSS
