Mustang women selling agro products at Tanahu fair

Damauli / March 9: The women from Mustang district have brought agricultural products at the women entrepreneurs’ fair that kicked off at Damauli, Tanahu on Friday.

The Women Entrepreneurs’ Association district chapter organized the fair.

Local products are given priority in the event. The Mustang women who produced agricultural products in the district are now selling at the fair.

In addition to the members of the Women Entrepreneurs’ Association, others from Gharapjhong rural municipality-3 of Mustang arrived here to sell fruits and vegetables.

Sakuna Rasaili, proprietor of the Fruits and Vegetable Processing Industry at Marpha, Mustang, informed, “We arrived at Damauli after we knew about the fair where goods produced by women entrepreneurs could be sold and distributed. We’ve put our products on display and for sale.”

Apple juice, pepper’s powder, red corn, potato chips, jimbu, and sisnu (stinging nettle) powder, among others are put on sale in the show.

Liquid soap produced by the women is also on sale. The women from Myagde rural municipality attending training to produce liquid soap, so it is a recent product resulted with the support of the local level.

Liquid soap has also contributed to women’s income generation.

Moreover, the caps made up of thakal by the women from Byas municipality-11 are in the fair.

Trade fair is conducted on the occasion of the International Women’s Day. Association Chair Nirmala Malla informed that the fair was aimed at promoting women entrepreneurship and fostering market for the goods produced locally by the women.

“We believe that traditional skills and occupations will be promoted. We are ready to extend support for it,” she vowed.

There are 50 stalls in the trade fair. The organizers have estimated the arrival of 40,000 visitors in the event that runs for three days.

Such events are expected to identify the traditional goods and their use which can be linked to entrepreneurship and income generation, according to Tulashi Shah, Chair of Dulegauda unit of Women Entrepreneurs Association. She believed it also helps on knowledge transfer.
