Nepal secures semi-final spot with victory over Saudi Arabia

Kathmandu / April 17: Continuing their winning streak, Nepal emerged victorious in today’s match against Saudi Arabia by 6 wickets in the ACC Premier Cup T-20 cricket tournament, which was shortened to 8 overs due to rain. Nepal secured the win with four balls to spare.

After winning the toss, Nepal chose to bowl first, restricting Saudi Arabia to 73 runs at the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 8 overs.

Nepal was able to chase down the target of 74 runs with four balls to spare. With this victory, Nepal maintains an undefeated streak in all four matches of the ACC Premier Cup T-20 cricket tournament.

Gulshan Jha and captain Rohit Paudel shone for Nepal. While Jha scored 32 runs off 19 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes, Captain Paudel remained not out for 16 runs with 1 four and 1 six in 7 balls.

For Nepal, Dipendra Singh Airee scored 17 runs off 9 balls before getting out. Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed for zero after facing two balls, while Aasif Sheikh scored only two runs off 3 balls. Kushal Malla scored 2 runs off 5 balls before being bowled out.

Earlier, Karan KC and Abhinash Bohara took two wickets each, while Lalit Rajbanshi and Pratish GC contributed with one wicket each.

Abdul Waheed was the standout performer for Saudi Arabia, scoring 37 runs.

Due to a rain delay and a soggy outfield, the T20 match between the two nations was shortened to just eight overs.
